Student Coach
George Farthing George arrived at UOEBC in 2020 after 5 years coxing at Canford School where he coxed the 1st VIII every year, won a National Schools Regatta bronze medal and raced at Henley Royal Regatta. After a year out coxing the Women's VIII at Leander Club where he made the final of the Wargrave Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta, came 2nd at the International Wedau Regatta, 7th overall (3rd in club) at WeHORR and won both Boat Race fixtures against Oxford and Cambridge amongst other highlights. He has returned as Head Student Coach of University of Exeter Boat Club. |
Volunteer Coach
Paul Widdowson 2017 West Region Volunteer of the Year Paul has been coaching at UOEBC since 2014 working closely with previous head coaches in supporting both the Men's and Women's Senior Squads. He did most of his rowing in Hong Kong in 4's and 2's representing the RHKYC at Far East Championships over a period of 15 years. He won gold in the 4- event at the Asian Championships in Japan in 1979. He has represented Hong Kong twice at the Nottingham International Regatta and has competed in the Wyfold Challenge Cup on 3 occasions during extended summer tours in the UK which also included success at numerous regional regattas including the final of the Elite 4- at Marlow in 1978. He has won several age group medals at BRIC and came 5th in the World Championships in Boston in 1995. Paul is also a qualified triathlon coach and has represented GB in his age group at European and World Championships winning bronze at the World Duathlon Championship in 1995. He has twice competed in the Hawaii Ironman and did the London Paris triathlon in 1985. |
