The Novice programme at Exeter is perfect for people who want to learn how to row or cox whilst enjoying the social side of being part of such a great club. The training programme is less intense than the senior programme but is designed to increase awareness of the movements in the boat and fitness in preparation for summer racing. There is coaching provided by Novice coaches, and current seniors who give their experience and advice to those learning the skills.
With the membership, you get 24/7hr access to the rowing gym (cheaper than the Russell Seal gym) and the Boat club on Wednesday afternoons and weekends, themed socials every Wednesday night and racing and stash opportunities.
As novices develop their skills, come summer racing season, the top novices in the squad will be integrated with the seniors, and therefore further increase their technique as they can learn from more experienced people. This also means they have the opportunity to come to Summer Training Camp which in the past has been in beautiful locations such as Netherlands and Italy and gives them a chance to really get to know the senior squad and to really improve their rowing abilities.
Taking up rowing at EUBC as a Novice is a great way to get fit, especially if you work well in a team and to try something completely new.
