The Senior programme is for those rowers who have rowed before and feel they are competent in a boat and with an intense training load.
At exeter we offer all disciplines of sweeping, sculling, heavyweight and lightweight for men and women.
As part of the rowing membership with EUBC, you have access to 24/7 gym with weights, ergs and bikes, along with a specialised weights programme taken by and S & C coach. A few of the seniors will be selected to go onto the High Performance Programme which gives them access to physio sessions, nutrition advice and workshops covering things like mindset in sport. There is the option to apply for a rowing scholarship (more information can be found here) which provides you with added extras.
The river we train on is 4.5km stretch just a 15 minute cycle from the centre of town. The boat club has a seated area for breaks in-between sessions, with a toaster, microwaves and a kettle for warm drinks.
Training Schedule :
Monday - cardio (60-90 mins) and circuits
Tuesday - cardio (60-90 mins) and weights
Wednesday - erg day and water session
Thursday - cardio (60-90 mins) and weights
Friday - pilates
Saturday - water x2 sessions and weights
Sunday - water x2
Rowing as a senior at Exeter is a fantastic opportunity to carry on your rowing career, and take it to new levels with multiple successes with athletes representing the university at BUCS events, Henley Royal Regatta and some athletes going on to represent GB at the U23 World Championships. This is due to a great support network of coaches and volunteers. Richard Tinkler, head coach has been on the GB coaching circuit for over 10 years so knows what he is looking for and how to produce some top level athletes.
